  24.     It could not mean that because MS-DOS Kermit runs fine in Win95.
  25. MSK also properly reports the version of DOS as 7.00 rather than as
  26. Windows 4.00.

  36.     Your friend purchased what is, I believe, a "controller-less" modem,
  37. not a regular one. That takes a special proprietary software driver to do
  38. much work which is normally in the modem, and apparently it is available only
  39. for Windows 3.1. We have no information on such modems, and given the strongly 
  40. negative reaction to them by knowlegable people their lifetime is expected to
  41. be short. Given the circumstances there is nothing that we Kermit folks can do
  42. to help, other than repeat the advice of AT&T Tech Support above: purchase a 
  43. regular modem, an external one at that.
